Division of Ownership of Gas Facilities
The division of ownership of gas facilities for LP gas, city gas and community gas is stipulated by legislation.
For LP Gas Facilities Users
The ownership of LP gas facilities for utility gas supply under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Act is divided as depicted in the diagram below.
Division of ownership of LP gas facilities (for meter-based billing)
- Supply facilities are facilities for supplying LP gas to consumers’ residences. They refer to facilities in the section from LP gas cylinders to the outlet of the gas meter.
- Consumption facilities refer to facilities in the section from the outlet of the gas meter to gas appliances.
For City Gas and Community Gas Cutomers
The ownership of city gas facilities and community gas facilities is divided as depicted in the diagram below.

The ownership of city gas facilities and community gas facilities is divided at the public-private boundary, or the road boundary. Gas pipes on consumers’ premises and those incorporated into buildings are under consumers’ ownership, with the exception of gas meters. These pipes are called private gas pipes. Gas pipes outside consumers’ premises are assets of Nippon Gas Co., Ltd.
