Joint Use of Personal Information Regarding Gas Applications

1.    Scope of Persons Authorized for Joint Use

Our company may jointly use the personal information of customers with parties below (*1).

- Gas retailers (*2)

- General gas pipeline service provider (*3)

2.    The objective of Joint Use

- To conclude, change, or cancel a wheeling service contract

- To broker the discontinuation of a retail service contract (including contracts related to last resort services) (*4) Also,

 to provide information on the preservation of consumption equipment as a result of switching service providers

- To check information related to service points

- To provide general gas pipeline service provider’s services based on the wheeling service contract, including

 metering gas usage, equipment maintenance, inspection, replacement, emergency services for gas leakage, and

 other services

- To notify the results of consumption equipment inspection (*5)

3.    Information Items for Joint Use

- Basic Information:

Name, address, phone number, and contract number of retail service contract

- Service Point Information:

Service point identification number, meter information, presence/absence of load meters, meter reading information, supply pressure, information on wheeling service contract changes, building information

- Information related to the preservation of consumption equipment at service points: 

Information related to the notification as set in the Gas Business Act (*6) Article 159 Paragraph 4


4.   Administrator Responsible for Joint Use

- Basic Information:

Gas retailers under a retail service contract (however, for the basic information of consumers receiving last resort services, the general gas pipeline service provider covering the area of the service point)

- Information Related to Service Points:

The general gas pipeline service provider covering the area of the service point (including service points of specified gas pipeline service business covered by the general gas pipeline service provider)

- Information Related to the Preservation of Consumption Equipment at Service Points:

Gas retailers under a retail service contract (however, for the basic information of consumers receiving last resort services, the general gas pipeline service provider covering the area of the service point)

Our company jointly uses customers’ personal information for joint use within the necessary scope of each information item with limited businesses. We will not always jointly use the personal information of customers with all gas retailers and general gas pipeline service providers.

Gas retailers are businesses that do not fall under the Gas Business Act (*6)’s registration refusal clause under Article 6 Paragraph 1 and is registered as a gas retailer by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (includes gas retailers registered under the supplementary provisions of the law amending parts of the Electricity Business Act, Act No. 47 of June 24th, 2015) (Please see the website of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy for the names and addresses of businesses).

General gas pipeline service providers are businesses authorized under the Gas Business Act (*6) Article 35 (includes businesses authorized as general gas pipeline service providers under the supplementary provisions of the law amending parts of the Electricity Business Act, Act No. 47 of June 24th, 2015) (Please see the website of the Japan Gas Association for the names and addresses of businesses).

“Brokerage of the discontinuation of a retail service contract” refers to a business that received a new application for a retail service contract from a customer acting as an agent of the customer to cancel the existing retail service contract with the existing business.

According to the provisions of the Gas Business Act Article 159 Paragraph 4, gas retailers notify the results of consumption equipment inspection to general gas pipeline service providers providing wheeling services, for retail gas purposes.

Gas Business Act refers to the Gas Business Act (Act No. 51 of March 31st, 1954) amended by Article 5 of the law amending parts of the Electricity Business Act (Act No. 47 of June 24th, 2015).
